Electro-pneumatically controlled batch weigh system

The project was to provide a pair of mobile electro-pneumatically controlled batch weigh system for a renowned international company. Working with the clients preferred weigh scale provider, this bespoke arrangement was manufactured to suit the new working procedure.

Amada machines prove to be a winning partnership

Our fabrication department are enjoying the benefits of having the new Amada Laser and Press Brake machines. Turn around time has been dramatically reduced having the machines in-house. Both machines are CNC which utilise intelligent software to convert CAD drawings into laser cut or folded products.

Panel suite fabricated in mild steel

Photographed prior to painting, this mild steel panel suite was manufactured for our panel department for a project which required a bespoke panel layout. At over 7 meters long and turned around in a very short timescale our mechanical fabrication team demonstrated both expertise and flexibilty on this job.

Maintenance Access Platform

Multi level platforms, example shown is a fully assembled stainless steel platform in our workshop facility ready for client visit and approval. This platform was to replace a single level mild steel platform, the multilevel platforms and new machinery supports were to give greater operator control and access. This platform significantly improved the product control. The old platform and equipment was replaced over a 3 day shutdown period.

Penstock steel framework fabricated for Northumbrian Water

Following a recent spate of vandalism & theft at Northumbrian Water’s Portrack works on Teesside Intelect Mechanical Ltd secured an order to fabricate the pictured penstock steel framework, to try to deter future theft, galvanized mild steel was chosen rather than stainless steel as can be seen in the older penstock in the background. Intelect UK engineers carried out the installation including the fitting on a manual capstan Rotork Actuator.

Machine Guarding

Bespoke machinery guarding, constructed from stainless steel with ploycarbonate panels. The installation was carried out in conjunction with Intelect's Panel Department to obtain a full PUWER compliant package to the client.

Root vegetable rumble drum

Mechanical Fabrications drew up plans, manufactured and supplied this replacement rumble drum within a week to the client.

This was possible because Intelect have the skills, equipment and facilities in house to deliver projects from start to finish, including in this instance crucial laser cutting equipment.

Product transfer system

Working from clients bin tipping stations supply a series of transfer solutions to obtain finished pack presentation. This picture shows tipping station chutes which have flaps in to divert the product onto either belt conveyors. All product is contained before dropping through holes in the platform, through another pneumatically controlled chute into storage hoppers below. (next slide)

These hoppers are PEC controlled for levels, though they can be mounted on load cells and controlled. The packets are presented to the operator to pass through the secondary packing machine.

Rotary mobile flavour drums

Working alongside development engineers, the internal flight design was developed to give increased flavour coverage, but reduced breakage. The fully stainless steel fabricated drums replaced the older units, whilst still using the existing drive equipment.

Pallet loading frame

Client had a new robot box packing system which relied on precise picking of pallets. The supplied infeed was not able to present the pallets within the required tolerances. Our infeed system allowed the forklift operator to load a stack of up to 15 pallets into the top of the frame, when the pallets are within the frame a pneumatically operated system squares the pallets up before opening the door to allow the stack of pallets into the system.

Tandem conveyors

Sharing the same drive unit, these conveyors can be pneumatically activated to be lifted or lowered into 1 of 2 positions.

These were installed in a very restricted space, allowing the client to divert there product onto another system, giving them greater packing flexibility.

Inspection belt conveyor

Example of a PU belt conveyor frame, shown in its black constructed unpainted state. Large drive roll with neoprene lagging (not seen) give extra belt pull in this oily applications. The skeleton frame work reduced belt friction and surfaces to clean down. Flush fitting end adjuster blocks allow the end rollers to be recessed for belt tracking guides and reduces nip points.

Bespoke guard for vertical borer

Working with on site engineers and machine operators to find an optimum workable guard to protect the operator but still allow safe working practices. unit built in our workshop, then installed on site during a short shut down period.

Bespoke platforms

Our platforms give access to very restricted areas of 'landlocked' machinery. Specific profiled landings (various top face finishes available), inclined step ladders with self closing safety gates.

Packet elevators
